...has just done something utterly stupid.
On a whim, I surfed over to the Royal Shakespeare Company site to check out any new plays coming up soon. (Anyone who knows me well enough will know that, far from getting first in my batch and sweeping all the academic awards on display, my life's dream in the UK is to watch EVERY Shakespeare play at least ONCE. And, knowing the History Plays, it is darned near impossible to catch those plays, not least because anyone in their right minds would not stage them to an audience of roughly five.)

So, you can only imagine the excitement that ensued when the site screamed "History Play Season coming This Year".

Apparently, to the consternation of anyone living in Newcastle, out in the boondocks, they're staging ALL EIGHT plays in the next calendar year, till 28 March. Which is, conveniently, RIGHT before my Easter break begins. (READ: The break when I will truly be free, having passed up both my hefty assignments for the year)

Anyone who knows me well enough will know EXACTLY what I did.

An excerpt from my booking order:

Richard II Friday, December 28, 2007 7:30pm
The Courtyard Theatre
(1) Standard Section Gallery Standing Aisle 6 £5.00/each £5.00

Henry IV Part I Saturday, December 29, 2007 10:30am
The Courtyard Theatre
(1) Standard Section Gallery Standing Aisle 2 £5.00/each £5.00

Henry IV Part II Saturday, December 29, 2007 3pm
The Courtyard Theatre
(1) Standard Section Gallery Standing Aisle 2 £5.00/each £5.00

And since there ARE four more plays to go, and they were ONLY available in the month of February-March, AND I would be busy completing my 1st assignment, the Patient Study, due late February, I decided to give myself a little incentive to finish my Family Study on time:

Henry VI Part I Saturday, March 01, 2008 10:30am
The Courtyard Theatre
(1) Standard Section Gallery Standing Aisle 6 £5.00/each £5.00

Henry VI Part II Saturday, March 01, 2008 3pm
The Courtyard Theatre
(1) Standard Section Gallery Standing Aisle 2 £5.00/each £5.00

Henry VI Part III Saturday, March 01, 2008 7:30pm
The Courtyard Theatre
(1) Standard Section Gallery Standing Aisle 5 £5.00/each £5.00

Richard III Sunday, March 02, 2008 3pm
The Courtyard Theatre
(1) Standard Section Gallery Standing Aisle 1 £5.00/each £5.00

That's FOUR Shakespeare plays in a row.

Someone please examine my head right now.

P.S. The more perceptive amongst you will naturally realise that I will need accommodation in Stratford on 28 Dec and 1 Mar. That is...a question I still do not have the answer for, considering

a) The only backpackers lodge in Stratford apparently has a wonky phone
b) The nearest one is 2 MILES away and seems to be served only by bus, which isn't going to work terribly well when I stagger out of my fourth-play-in-a-row at 11pm into the middle of, presumably bus-free, Stratford.
